MASSAGE |
Massage can be defined as the systematic and manual manipulation of the body’s soft tissue using the hands in a gentle, flowing technique that uses varying degrees of pressure and stretching movements, promoting health, relaxation and improving well-being.
A Swedish physiologist named Per Henrik Ling, created a scientific system of massage movements and techniques known as Swedish Massage. This consists of five basic strokes: effleurage (stroking), petrissage (kneading), friction, tapotement (percussion), and vibration.
Massage can improve:
- Circulation
- Lymphatic drainage
- Joint mobility
- Sports Performance
- Stress / Anxiety, through relaxation
- Skin health, by increasing circulation to the skin
- Digestion, by stimulating peristalsis
- Immunity, due to the increase in white blood cells
What to expect?
On the first visit clients are asked a number of questions concerning general well-being, injuries and medical conditions that Rachel should know about, in order to determine if there are any contra-indications (physical conditions that would prohibit or limit a massage treatment).
Environment is important to the massage experience. The room will be warm and peaceful with low-level lighting, soft music and a pleasing aroma.
You should leave feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.
